Page 1 of 2 BATCH MANAGEMENTBatch Management can comprise of up to three functions - Batch Tracking to track the products as they traverse the pipeline length, Batch Scheduling to schedule the batch delivery process and Batch Predictive to predict the movement of scheduled batches. They can be easily expanded to include more complex management functions. Batch Scheduling The scheduling process is undertaken by the operator or the planner before transfer of batches occurs. The sequence of batches to be delivered is pre-defined in a schedule identifying the volume to be transported, its destination, customer details and its type. The process incorporates easy to use tools that allow quick definition of the schedule through drop down menus and sorting / sequencing algorithms. Batch Tracking Once the schedule is defined, it is submitted. The volumes of product entering the pipe are then monitored in accordance with the schedule with over-delivered and under-delivered volumes clearly identified to the operator. The batches are then tracked in the physical sense by the VariSimTM simulator. Each batchs' progress can be carefully monitored as it progresses through the pipeline network. Estimated times of arrival are continaully provided for a batchs' defined location or any location on the pipeline network. Virtual batch volumes and stripped bactch volume can be monitored for efficient transfer of batches to the pipeline customers.
Batch Predictive Batch predictive functions take the schedule and predict the future movements of the schedule of batches throughout the pipeline using an offline VariSimTM simulator. The operator is able to specify pump statuses and tank starting conditions that will continue to exist over the duration of the batching process. It is also possible to define the fixed set-points of any flow and pressure control valves. Predictive simulations are able to use the batch schedule as an input and determine the movement of the batches over the batching timeframe
