Fully interactive pipeline simulation. Go beyond the liquid parts and apply control schemes

Presented at the Pressure Surges Conference in Edinburgh (14th - 16th May 2008)

Abstract

The hydraulic behaviour of an operating pipeline is primarily influenced by the characteristics of the fluid, the pipe work and the operating equipment installed on it. Simulation of this hydraulic behaviour has been attainable now for many years and simulators have been instrumental in supporting the design and planning processes of fluid pipelines and networks. However, the equipment installed on a modern pipeline is increasingly controlled by both local control logic and SCADA systems. If the simulators are to remain accurate and have maximised value, they must be supplemented with control logic that accurately models complete pipeline control schemes.  Click here to download
